There Are No Limits To The Love You Can Carry, But There Must Be Limits To What You Sacrifice In Its Name.

Love is one of the few things we can give repeatedly without necessarily possessing less of it. We can love children, partners, friends, family, strangers, people who stayed, people who left, and even people we can no longer safely allow close. The heart is not a container with numbered seats. Loving someone new does not require evicting everyone who mattered before them.

But limitless love should never be confused with limitless access.

You can love someone and say no. Love them and leave.

Love them and refuse to rescue them. Love them while holding them accountable. Love them from a distance because proximity has become destructive.

The capacity to love may be expansive, but time, energy, trust, tolerance, and emotional resources are not.

Think of love as sunlight.

It can fall across an enormous landscape without belonging exclusively to anything it touches.

But even sunlight cannot make everything grow. Soil matters. Conditions matter. What is planted matters. Some relationships flourish under love. Others remain incompatible, unhealthy, or incapable of receiving what is offered. More love is not always the solution to a relationship that lacks reciprocity, respect, or responsibility.

So love enormously.

Love courageously.

Let tenderness survive disappointment without allowing discernment to die beside it.

There may be no meaningful ceiling on our capacity to love, but wisdom decides where that love can build a home.

An open heart does not require an open door.
