HIEROS GAMOS TANISHKA
The Inner Marriage (Hieros Gamos)
Hieros Gamos is an old phrase for a simple job: the inner masculine and inner feminine stop living in separate rooms.
Not a wedding on a hill. Not a hunt for a twin flame to complete you. The marriage is inside the one body you already have.
What the two sides actually are
The masculine current: stillness, direction, protection, the part that can say no and hold a line.
The feminine current: movement, feeling, creation, the part that can receive and change shape.
Most of us run one loud and one exiled. Men often lock the feeling-side in the shed. Women often carry the whole house with no one holding the frame. The split is inherited, family, culture, old hurts — not a personal moral failure.
When they’re split, you get the usual mess:
control without warmth, emotion without ground, chasing someone out there to play the missing half.
What the work is
You bring them into the same chest.
Forgive the lineage that taught one side to hide. Sit in the body until both currents can be felt without one bullying the other.
The masculine learns it doesn’t have to incarcerate feeling to stay strong.
The feminine learns it doesn’t have to orphan itself to stay safe.
That’s it. No robes required.
The goal
Wholeness that doesn’t outsource.
You stop needing another person to be your missing organ. Partnership can still happen and it’s cleaner, because you’re not secretly hiring them as your other half. Creation (kids, work, land, making things) comes from a joined current instead of a wound trying to complete itself.
You become someone who can hold and someone who can open, in the same day, without ripping yourself in two.
That’s the inner marriage.
The outer life rearranges around it when it’s real not when it’s posted.
If this meets you, sit with it. If it doesn’t, leave it.
No performance needed.
